* Stock futures are trending lower this morning. Traders are focused on the Iranian sanctions and mid-term elections.
Oil prices are trading lower this morning. A news conference is scheduled for today at 8:30 am ET where Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will be speaking on the Iranian sanctions. Anticipation of U.S. sanctions push oil to multiyear highs last month. However crude oil producers have started pumping sufficient supply to offset the loss of Iranian oil on the world market. In addition to the increase in supply, demand appears to be easing due to a slowing global economy. Also, the US has allowed eight nations to keep buying oil from Iran for an unspecified amount of time. The countries granted waivers are reportedly India, China, South Korea, Turkey, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan and Japan. OPEC and its production allies, including Russia, will meet in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 11 to assess their nearly two-year-old agreement to limit production output. WTI is currently trading at $62.90 a barrel and Brent Crude is at $72.75 a barrel.
