Fed policy makers on Wednesday raised their target range on the central bank's benchmark short-term interest rate by one-quarter of a percentage point while boosting their projections for how much they will raise rates this year and next. On the economic calendar today we have Jobless Claims, Retails Sales and Import / Export prices reports due out at 8:30 am ET.

Equity markets –

S&P futures are trading slightly higher this morning, (0.27%)

Asian markets were lower overnight.

The Federal Reserve will announce their decision on interest rates today at 2:00 pm ET. While a ¼ point increase is expected, traders will be paying close attention to the official statement for indications of future rate changes. On the economic calendar today the producer price index at 8:30 am, then the Atlanta Fed business inflation expectations report at 10 am. The much-watched EIA domestic oil inventories release is at 10:30 am.

The Fed begins its two-day policy meeting in Washington today and officials are widely expected to raise interest rates by another quarter percentage point. White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow suffered heart attack. On the economic calendar today the May CPI index rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2%.

The Federal Reserve meets this week and it it widely expected that they will announce an interest rate increase to 2% from 1.75%. Traders are looking to hear clues for their forward policy plans for the rest of 2018. The FOMC meeting begins on Tuesday with the policy announcement on Wednesday. Data this week includes CPI, PPI, retail sales, and industrial production.

On the economic calendar today we have wholesale trade figures coming out at 10 am ET

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System provides a periodic supervisory update at a Closed Board Meeting being held at the Board's Washington, D.C. Offices on June 5 at 9 am. Multiple economic reports are due out today. The Redbook is scheduled for release at 8:55 am ET. PMI Services Index at 9:45 am ET. ISM Non-Manufacturing index at the JOLTS ( Job openings and labor turnover) report are both due out at 10:00 ET.
